Market Intelligence Summary

  • All-India RTC clearing price touched a two-year high of Rs 5.08/kWh and maximum clearing price jumped to Rs 9.20/kWh amidst sharp rise in demand and fall in supply. Total demand was nearly twice the power on supply. Concentrated buying in the market led to high prices as West Bengal, Bihar and Telangana acquired around 55% of the total volume cleared. Increased share of thermal IPPs from southern and western region pushed the maximum clearing price to Rs 9.20/kWh during evening peak hours.
  • WESTERN REGION: Jindal Power-I and Adani Power Mundra collectively sold 26 MUs, or a fifth of the cleared volume. These power plants increased their sales by 67% compared to 10 September delivery. 
  • SOUTHERN REGION: Coastal Energen, Sembcorp Gayatri, Meenkashi Energy and Thermal Powertech collectively sold 14.4 MUs, up 43%.
