While the demand remained stable, supply declined marginally. Minimum clearing price for 13 July delivery jumped sharply to Rs 1.67/kWh whereas the maximum and RTC clearing price witnessed a much milder increase. Heavy rainfall in the western region turned Gujarat into a net seller.
NORTHERN REGION: Punjab shutdown three units of total capacity 670 MW on 12 July due to low demand.
SOUTHERN REGION: Tamil Nadu revived a 210 MW unit of Tutucorin thermal power plant on 12 July; the unit was shutdown on 2 July citing low demand due to high wind energy generation. Wind generation across the country has declined over the last 3 days.
IMD WEATHER FORECAST: 14 July & 15 July — Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
