Market Intelligence Summary

  • All-India RTC clearing price spiked 22% to 6-day high of Rs 5.22/kWh as buy bids volume jumped 9.5% to 241 MUs. Sell bids volume, however, dropped 8% to 158 MUs. The likely driving factors of this increased prices are the overall decline in supply in the market and the increased share of thermal power in that supply.
  • EASTERN REGION: West Bengal and Bihar increased power procurement from IEX by 18% and 26%, respectively. The possible reason being increased demand or reduced supply from central sector power plants.
  • NORTHERN REGION: The three units of 250 MW capacity each at Rajasthan’s Suratgarh thermal power plant have still not been reported as revived.
