Market Intelligence Summary

  • Keeping with the trend seen over the last few weeks, demand for electricity on Saturday increased this time as well. Buy bids volume was up 4.5% to 187 MUs while sell bids volume crashed 15% to 7-day low of 219 MUs. A total volume of 157 MUs was cleared for delivery at an all-India RTC clearing price of Rs 3.01/kWh.
  • SOUTHERN REGION: A 1,000 MW unit of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant was shutdown on 4 August due to technical issue; so was a 500 MW unit of Kakatiya TPS in Telangana.
  • IMD WEATHER FORECAST: 6 August — Heavy rainfall expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, western Karnataka and Kerala. 7 August — Heavy rainfall expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
