Market Intelligence Summary

  • All-India RTC clearing price increased 8% to 11-day high of Rs 3.50/kWh as gap between demand and supply fell sharply. The ratio of demand to sell was just 1.11 which led to an increase in maximum clearing price. Additionally, sales by Teesta Urja declined by 30% adding buoyancy to the minimum clearing price.
  • NORTHERN REGION: Haryana shutdown a 600 MW unit citing low demand while Punjab also shutdown a 660 MW unit of Talwandi Sabo for the same reason. 
  • WESTERN REGION: A 660 MW unit of NTPC Mouda was revived on 5 September; the unit had been shut earlier due to low demand. 
  • IMD WEATHER FORECAST: 6 September — Heavy rainfall expected in Assam, Meghalaya and Andhra Pradesh. 7 September — Heavy rainfall expected in Andhra Pradesh and all north-eastern states except Arunachal Pradesh.
